The Lyceum of Hathor of the Ten Houses
The Lyceum of Hathor of the Ten Houses is dedicated to enlightenment and healing through two systems--Reiki and Qabala. So in addition to the general Priesthood training, we offer those. Through working with these, the student accumulates credits. A certain number of credits are required for Priesthood and Hierophancy (For more information see "Two Tracks to Healing and Enlightenment" below.).
There is no fee to enter this Lyceum. There are no dues. I do not charge for Initiate Levels. I do not charge for Magi Degrees. I do not charge for Qabalistic work. The only thing I charge for is Reiki instruction. It is perfectly possible and permissible to go through this entire system of training without paying a penny (if you stick to the Qabala). It is also possible to train in Reiki alone as long as one is willing to do intensive work with Magi Degrees.
This Lyceum is absolutely interfaith and is open to members of all religions.
Before performing a Rite, the student must complete a study guide for that Rite. As it is a good idea to have a fair amount of time pass between the rituals, answering two or three questions a day should be enough work.
1. The first thing you need to do is read the Manifesto. If you can believe in it and uphold it, then you might want to take this first step and join the FOI.
2. Read the Handbook of the Fellowship of Isis Manual, either the printed copy or the copy at www.thecircleofisis.com (the Circle of Isis site, run by Linda Iles.)
3. Read the College of Isis Manual, either the printed copy or the copy at the COI site to gain an understanding of the greater role the Lyceums and Archpriesthood play in the structure of the FOI.
4. Read the Ordination of Priestesses and Priests manual so you understand the ritual and the intentions behind it.
5. Begin daily practice of the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. Try it with an open mind. If it is not your cup of tea, we can discuss other options.
6. If you decide you are interested in ordination, read the Rite of Initiation and understand the intentions behind it. If you have already been initiated, we will move on with your studies. We will discuss the consequences of initiation and the inner and outer course of study, to make absolutely sure this is something you want to do. If we mutually agree that your path lies with Initiation, we will set a time and place for the ritual.
7. You also might want to choose two Magi Degree rituals which speak to you. They can be related or not. They don't have to be on the same Ray, spiral, or have anything to do with each other at all. The Rites get more complex as you travel inward into the Spiral. A significant amount of time needs to pass between these rituals. In addition to study, research, and preparation, it takes time to assimilate these rituals in body, mind, and spirit. These rituals place you in direct contact with the collective unconscious and other planes. They are not games. You need to put psychic and psychological safeguards into place. They must be approached in a deliberate fashion with knowledge. This step is optional. If you take these two rituals in addition to Initiation and Ordination, you will be a fourth degree Magi/Maga, which is one of the steps to becoming a Hierophant.
8. After the rituals, contact me and describe your experience. Unfortunately, the Engligh language was not created to discuss mystical experience. Together, we can figure it out.
9. Make contact with those Goddesses who want you to be their Priest/ess. Actually, in most cases, they will contact you. The most obvious way to do this is through meditation. However, they may manifest to you in other ways, such as significant dreams, psychic perception, or synchronicity (a meaningful coincidence). You will be contacted by three Goddesses. One will let you know that she is your primary Goddess. All three of them will make it clear what kind of work they want you to do (healing, creativity, occult wisdom, herbology, etc.) You will need to prepare gifts for your three Goddesses at the time of Ordination that symbolize what kind of service you are offering them. They don't have to be fancy (unless of course, you like fancy).
10. When you know who your primary Goddess is, perform the Dedication of a Shrine to Isis from the Dea pamphlet. The ritual needs to be changed to work with your primary Goddess to whom you will dedicate your Iseum/Lyceum. Get in touch with me so I can make sure you understand the symbolism of the Rite.
11. Perform the Rite of Good Health and discuss the symbolism of this Rite as you have the one above.
12. Work with the Star of Ishtar diagram. Familiarize yourself with it, study, it, and meditate on it. This is the central symbol of the FOI. Information can be found from Lady Olivia, who has written about it in the introductions to several of her pamphlets. Michael Starsheen has written about it. Linda Iles wrote a detailed article about its origins that can be found in the Mirror of Isis on line magazine. I don't expect you to read all of the rites. You do need to understand how they relate to each other. For now, I am most interested in your own impressions.
13. Prepare a scroll that includes your spiritual history whose purpose is to demonstrate you are qualified for Ordination. It doesn't have to be fancy either (unless, once again, you like that kind of thing.).
14. Find or make a wand, stole, or crown, for your ordination.
Two Tracks to Healing and Enlightenment
A certain number of credits are required for Priesthood as well as Hierophancy. The student is free to study whatever they like. The first way to get credits is by obtaining Initiate Levels. Credits: 3 per ritualCost: $0.00(Please note, a student may only perform 4 of these rituals for credit.) The true meat for Priesthood or Hierophant students are the Magi Degrees. To become a Priest/ess, you must go through the Rites of Initiation and Ordination. To become a Hierophant, you must go through at least two more Magi Degrees. You may go through as many as you like for credit.Credits: 4 per ritualCost: $0.00There is no limit as to how many of these the initiate may take.Instruction on exactly how to work with Reiki and Qabala will be given to the student but I will briefly comment as to exactly what they are here. Reiki is a system of energetic treatment that has been used to relieve stress and address almost every malady known to human kind. Learning Reiki requires attunements. The theory behind attunements is that you are currently like a radio between stations. You can generate some sound/healing energy, but mostly what you get is static. The attunements are like adjusting the tuner knob so you can get actual music/be hooked into the source of healing. Attunements must be passed down from Master to student in an unbroken line that goes all the way back to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui. I am particularly interested in attuning students who may not have an attuning Master in their area. In Level II, you will learn how to send Reiki treatments over distances. The principle behind giving distance attunements is the same. I do charge for attunements/training, but try to keep it low in this Lyceum. It is possible to achieve Priesthood by only going through Reiki studies. Level I: Here you learn how to do a basic Reiki treatment. I handle this Level a little differently than some Masters. I actually offer 4 attunements. each targeting a different chakra.Credits: 4Cost: $50Level II: Here the student learns to do mental and emotional treatments, as well as send the energy over distances.Credits: 5Cost: $50Level III: This is the Master Level. Here a student gains the ability to transfer attunements to their own students.Credits: 5Cost: $50 Qabala is a system of Judeo-Christian mysticism that was really brought into coherence by the Golden Dawn. Its central glyph is the Tree of Life (When I was studying to become a Hierophant, my mentor assigned me a project in which I had to correlate the Paths and Spheres on the Tree of Life with the Magi Degrees then justify those associations. I may give you some sort of project also, not necessarily Qabala, but depending on your interests.) The Tree is organized into states of being and becoming. Working on a Sphere should get you some type of mystical experience. Each Sphere includes a Vision or spiritual experience. The same goes for the Paths. Once you have received the mystery of a Sphere or Path, you may move on. The two techniques offered are rising on the planes (in which you travel up the Tree through the Spheres) and pathworking (in which you traverse a Path). In comparing my Qabalistic studies to those of others, you will notice that I don't spend as much time on a Sphere or Path as many other teachers. This is Hathor's influence. Through evoking her (the text for that will be given), the student can gain mastery over a Sphere in 4-12 days and a path in 1-2. Meditation on the elements in Malkuth requires 1-4 days per element. Meditation on the 4 elements of Malkuth (the Earth Plane) Credits: 1 per elementCost: $0.00Rising on the PlanesCredits: 4 per Sphere (There is a total of 10 Spheres)Cost: $0.00PathworkingCredits: 1 per PathCost: $0.00 Number of Credits needed for Priesthood: 39 Having said all this about credits, I feel I should point out that this is not a race. I am not in the business of simply cranking out Priests. There needs to be time in between these rituals. And they must be approached with great respect. In order to get credit, you must receive the mystery of the Rite. It may take weeks or months after enacting a rite to receive the mystery. There are even some people who will begin to receive it while working on a study guide. How do you know if you have received the mystery? Here are the requirements:(a) A vision or a trance(b) A clairaudient messageThese two may or may not be accompanied by:(c) Heightened operation of a previously possessed psychic ability or the receiving of a newly manifested psychic level of operation(d) A series of magical synchronicitous happenings that manifest in the physical world which incorporate symbolism of the elements of the Rite.(a) and/or (b) are a necessity to determine whether one has received the mystery. Study Guide for Hierophancy 1. Read the College of Isis Manual, either the printed copy or the copy at the COI site so you understand the role that lyceums and the hierophancy play in the structure of the FOI.2. Read and understand the ritual "Flamma Vestae" for introduction of a member into a lyceum. There are versions of it in Pantehea and the College of Isis Manual.3. Read and understand the ritual "Flamma Sacerdotae" for consecration of a hierophant in the College of Isis Manual.4. If you don't have at least four Magi Degrees completed yet, select two with the help of your preceptor, study them, and perform them. Discuss the ritual afterwards and determine whether you received the mystery or not. Once you have received the mystery with two rituals, you will be a Magus/Maga, one of the requirements for becoming a hierophant. (The other two Magi Degrees are the Rites of Initiation and Ordination. (As "one who shines forth," it is important that the hierophant have experience in the rituals he/she is teaching.)5. Meditate with your three Goddesses and any other who show up during your training to determine who will sponsor your Lyceum. Once she has manifested, work with her to determine what the name and purpose of your lyceum is to be, thus bringing your hierophancy into focus and giving you a sense of grounding in the College.6. Study and meditate on the Star of Ishtar diagram, the central symbol of the Fellowship of Isis. This is the "meat" of the College of Isis and it is crucial to hierophants; it's what you are all about. Lady Olivia has written about it in the introductions of several of her pamphlets, Michael Starsheen has written about it, and Linda Iles has written a detailed article on its origins, which may be found in the "Mirror of Isis." Also in the Mirror of Isis, is a series of articles by Matthew comparing it to Qabala. Look at how the levels of the Spiral (physical/emotional-etheric/mental/spiritual) and the eight rays relate to one another, and how they manifest in the various dramas. The Magi Degrees are the primary focus of the hierophant, and the teaching of a lyceum, so it is very important to be very familiar with the structure of the rituals and how they relate to each other. The first three rituals are obvious: "The Rite of Rebirth," "Ordination of Priests and Priestesses," and the "Isian Wedding Rite" cover specific milestones on the physical plane. After that, begin with the Magi dramas in the three pamphlets Dea, Urania, and Sophia, and examine how the rituals increase in complexity as you move from the physical level of "Dea," to the planetary rituals of "Urania," into the mental/spiritual astrological rituals of "Sophia." Given the recent growth of the spirals of mystery dramas and levels of attainment, in the FOI, it is good to have a general familiarity with the other spirals as well, especially the Adepti spiral. I suggest you use Michael Starsheen's corrected Adepti Spiral spreadsheet and do a general exploration of the rituals, particularly in "Panthea." You should also look at the Druid Clan of Dana, the Noble Order of Tara, and the Solar Lyceums of Alchemy, in order to have a basic familiarity with their aims and goals. When you studied the Spiral for Priesthood, I was more interested in your impressions. Now I want you to research.7. Make preparations to found you lyceum. At this point, you and your founding Goddess will have chosen a name and focus of teaching and study. Prepare to perform "Flamma Vestae" either in the College of Isis manual or "Panthea." Complete the study guide for the rite. You may have to consecrate yourself as the first member of your lyceum.8. The candidate for admission to the lyceum should prepare or provide gifts of incense, flowers, and a work of art of some type. Discuss and prepare them for these gifts, and be sure that they are willing and able to produce them. 9. It is your responsibility to provide the candidate for admission to the lyceum with an ankh, a white feather quill pen, and a blank scroll of papyrus as part of the ritual. 10. Perform the "Flamma Vestae" rite and consecrate you lyceum with its first member, thus founding it on the physical and other planes.(Be aware that you may be performing most of the parts in the drama by yourself, unless you are part of a larger group already. Or you may be doing it by attunement, with a group of people located in other places. This can be a bit daunting at first, but is something you get used to once you feel the energies flowing properly.)11. Prepare your sacra for the consecration. For a woman: a crown, an ankh-shaped sistrum, and a pectoral. For a man: an Egyptian mitre, a crook, and a pectoral12. Prepare a scroll relating what spiritual gifts qualify you to become a hierophant. Your scroll may be as fancy or as simple as you like, but should be easy to read, i.e. big print.13. When you are ready, we will perform "Flamma Sacerdotae" from the College of Isis manual and consecrate you as a hierophant. Number of Credits needed for Hierophancy: 70
